Steve Hall is a 25-year veteran of the Buy Here Pay Here (BHPH) industry. He is known by many within the industry as the BHPH guru, or more specifically the BHPH Dealer Management System (DMS) guru.
After graduating from college with a degree in Accounting, Steve began his professional career in public accounting in Houston, Texas where he began developing an expertise in lending institutions. From there he spent a few years in consumer and commercial lending accounting and audit, followed by some time as a financial investigator with a private investigation firm in Dallas, Texas.
In 1996 Steve accepted a role as internal auditor for a fast-growing BHPH operation in the Dallas area where he mastered and managed daily cash reconciliation processes, DMS systems, accounting reporting and data analysis. He led innovation in operating and accounting systems, designed automated financial reporting and analytics, worked with software vendors in the design of new functionality to management insurance claims and CPI insurance processing, new centralized collections management systems and much more.
Following 7 years as the systems lead, wherein he became a “super-user” of the AutoStar Solutions DMS system, Steve joined the AutoStar Solutions team and quickly became their leader in software implementation, training, consulting, and feature improvements design. After spending 10 years in this role, primarily focused on the accounting aspects of their solutions, and managing the professional services group at AutoStar, he spent his last 2 years at AutoStar designing the next generation “Utopia” BHPH DMS system from the ground up.
Just before completing it, AutoStar sold out to DealerSocket, who decided to move forward with what has become known as iDMS, and not complete the “Utopia” DMS that Steve had nearly completed. Very shortly thereafter Steve parted ways with DealerSocket and has since worked as an independent consultant to BHPH dealerships, primarily assisting with accounting, reporting and systems optimization. While continuing in this role presently, Steve is passionate about leveraging his experience and expertise to help independent dealerships become much more scalable, profitable and marketable by incorporating smarter innovation, process automation, intelligent integrations, done-for-you reconciliation tools, compliance audits and more.
